1. Install ibus and input methods. You need to have at least one input method because ibus does not come with any.

# apt-get install ibus ibus-pinyin ibus-chewing

2. Add ibus to bashrc

# vim ~/.bashrc
…
export GTK_IM_MODULE=ibus
export XMODIFIERS=@im=ibus
export QT_IM_MODULE=ibus
…

3. Configure ibus and add input method(s):

# ibus-setup

4. Add ibus-daemon to startup applications:

System->Preference->Startup Applications->Add, use “ibus-daemon -x -r -d” as command

# wget http://download.macromedia.com/pub/labs/flashplayer10/libflashplayer-10.0.32.18.linux-x86_64.so.tar.gz
# tar xzvf libflashplayer-10.0.32.18.linux-x86_64.so.tar.gz
# cp libflashplayer.so /usr/lib/iceweasel/plugins/

restart iceweasel if neccessary.

2. Find and change all occurance of lenny to squeeze under repository list and add contrib and non-free repositories.

# vi /etc/apt/sources.list

…
deb http://ftp.tw.debian.org/debian squeeze main contrib non-free
deb-src http://ftp.tw.debian.org/debian squeeze main contrib non-free
…

3. Update and upgrade to squeeze

# apt-get update
# apt-get full-upgrade
# reboot

4. After upgrade, you will find that your radeon driver is missing and it is because debian developers have stripped them out of kernel from kernel 2.6.29 onwards. There are 2 ways to re-install the driver: get the stripped kernel drivers from non-free repositories or use ATI’s proprietary video driver.

• Get stripped kernel drivers and modify xorg.conf accordingly.

# apt-get install firmware-linux

• Install ATI driver.

# apt-get install kernel-package
# apt-get install linux-headers-2.6.30-2-amd64
# sh ati-driver-installer-9-10-x86.x86_64.run
# aticonfig –initial

5. Reboot
